The Swerve Ch 2

2-1-Q

Pg 27 Ch 1

“He was aware too that for others the readings would be an occasion for mockery or simply for chat, and here too the Rule made careful provision…But, above all, he wanted to prevent these readings from provoking discussion or debate”. Why I like this part is because when people began to take the readings as a joke or not serious he would reel them back into showing the importance to them in a way. I like this because I think this is similar to the real world, people take serious things as a joke but elders or people who know about why there is meaning to those things. The readings are very important and must be followed and taken seriously.

Pg 34 Ch 3

“They were close friends, working and traveling together and sharing the same ambition, but they were also rivals, competitors in the pursuit of fame that came with discovery”. why I like this chapter is because before their telling us the traits if the two why they are alike and how they actually travel with each other but, they are still going against each other on trying to make new discovery before the other. What I also found interesting is Bartolomelo never mentions Poggio’s name in his writings to get more credit.

I think a good comparison to this would be people starting businesses together. When you start a business with a parter or even two. If the business gets successful a lot of the times one of the owners may want more credit or money from another. When the two go on explorations and go with each other but are also enemies in movements to take credit in work first.

My question I would ask is why not go alone so the friendship never changes or so jealousy wont begin to occur? My other question would be if the two worked together how much more successful could they have been?
