The Future of Payment is Digital and It’s OK!
In this article student at the University of Michigan student Natasha Eliya brings up the fact that we used to walk around with our wallets but in today’s age our wallets have converted to being on our phones. She then brings up the fact that even stores are now beginning to only take cards and won’t accept cash payments. If you begin to take a deep dive into it, Natasha is definitely right.
After covid everything in this generation began to be online to the point that people have begun to do everything on their phone. Apple has even created an app for you to put your debit or credit card on your phone to make payments in person or to an online shop called Wallets. You don’t have to use it just for that, you can use it for covid vaccination card, a ticket to a sports game, or even to have your plane ticket right from your phone. In Natasha’s eye she thinks it’s a positive direction to take but it can be a little bit dangerous as well.
Being able to make a purchase right from your phone is dangerous because you can simply lose track of how much money you’re really spending. One moment you make a few purchases and the next you look at your bank account in shock by how much you actually spent. I think that online wallets are a good thing but can also be bad if you have a spending or saving issue.
Don’t Fake it Till you Make it
In this article Giselle Sesi, a student from the University of Michigan brought up how students are beginning to feel more pressure to do well in their classes at their universities. She brings up the idea that instead of trying to fit in that you should try to be yourself in the classroom and something you’re not. Now Giselle may bring this up like it is easy but I think it can be a difficult task for many.
Today’s society is afraid of not being able to fit in. When COVID happened it caused people to not have to interact or converse in person. So when it came time to have in person conversations with people they felt lost. They worry a lot about if people are going to judge them or think bad of them instead of just trying to be themselves. For this reason a lot of students have a tough time raising their hands in class to answer a question.
It is easy to feel this way especially being at college. You’re in a new environment with a bunch of people you do not know. In the end the best way to build this confidence is being yourself and learning to overcome these obstacles. It can be very hard adjusting and fitting in today’s society, but if we can learn to not act like everyone else and try to do things our own way, I think people will be surprised by the outcome.
