Rough Draft 1

The University of New England is a great educational school for students and has very beautiful scenery for the students who attend as well. When it comes to the campus life on the weekends though, some will say it’s more dead than a tumbleweed.  A lot of students have not been happy about their weekends to the point that some will go as far as transferring to a completely different school.

“If it was not for the sports teams I don’t know if there would be any events to go around here”, says Nathan Delgado. Delgado is a sophomore and one of the athletes on the football team at the University who lives on campus. When asking Delgado what he does on the weekend he stated, “I typically watch sports, play video games, or watch tv with my roommates. As far as leaving my dorm I only really go and get food”, Delgado replied.

When asking about the party scene he replied, “This is the last thing from a party school. Sometimes people off campus will throw a party, but other than that people will only get together in someone’s dorm”. After looking at the activities list the tale seems to be true, for the most part the school does not have any activities that are really appealing to everyone. What could the University do to change this?

For starters they could ask more students for ideas on what events the University can put together. Getting the students’ opinions rather than getting ideas from professors who used to attend the University would go a long way. The truth is ladies and gents that times have changed. Students want to do something that will give them something they are going to talk to their friends all week about and look forward to.
