Learning Outcome 3

Learning Outcome 3

When it comes to reviewing a passage it is really important you get the full concept of what the author’s point is that they are trying to get across, because for us we would use these passages later on for our writings. For me, I’d have to read the passage more than once to not only get a good understanding but to also make myself get better at annotating for future assignments I had throughout the semester. The best way for myself that helped me with my passages was honestly highlighting and leaving sure notes on the important parts of the passage. A good example of me doing this is with, “In Defense of Distraction”, by Sam Anderson. Throughout the passage my goal was to not only  highlight, underline, but also leave notes throughout the whole passage so when it was time to come back to the passage I knew where all the important and key information was going to be. My approach going into these passages was to see the author’s opinion on how technology has truly affected our society. In our writing this semester a lot of the topics were about technology so I was personally looking for the studies they have done, the reaction to the person being tested on, and how it can affect our society in the long run as well. In the end being able to do this with multiple passages made my process much easier overtime and helped me learn how to annotate.
