Learning Outcome 5

When it comes to citing in MLA you have to be very specific because if not points on your exam as well as your essay can get taken off very easily. For starters what I do is I put the author’s link into Purdue owl so I can put the author’s source at the end of my passages. Next was to make sure that I had my authors last name and the first name. After that we have to include the title of the source. The key part is to have the correct version, number, publisher, publication date, and finally location. At the beginning of the semester I honestly did not know how to correctly do MLA format. I was worrying if I was even doing the correct on our first project to tell you the truth. So learning the correct format will help me in the long run and was the beginning of me improving and becoming a better writer throughout the semester and for the rest of my time in college. Realizing not knowing how to do something so simple makes you realize how much more focused you should be about your writing. Below are two examples, the first is from my first writing of the semester and the second one is MLA citing format from my final essay of the semester.

“Turkle, Sherry. The Empathy Diaries: A Memoir. Penguin Press, 2022.”

“Kelly, Kevin. “Technophilia.” The Technium, kk.org/thetechnium/technophilia/. Accessed 22 Mar. 2024.”
